How about we start the New Year w/ a great soundtrack from one of the 'masters'? There sure were a LOT of lush, romantic scores of this type being done in the late 60's early 70's...

btw Stanley Baker starred in AND produced this film! What an underrated actor. I remember when I was a wee lad thinking that Sean Connery and Stanley Baker were one in the same person...they were in a GREAT film together called HELL DRIVERS in the late 50's. If you ever get a chance to see it POUNCE! It's sort of a poor (Enlish)man's version of WAGES OF FEAR. (It also has David MacCallum and Patrick MacGoohan in it). It's a wonderful action packed B-movie.

  4. Rocket I also love Hell Drivers. This is probably in breach of posting etiquette, but I have to share some of a wonderful user review from imdb: "An oddball movie, a hybrid of (would be) Hollywood tough-guy melodrama and UK kitchen sink sensibility. And yes, starring Dr Who, The Prisoner, 007, Man from UNCLE and many more. Certainly the greatest cast of cult actors ever to appear together, well, ever. This movie is terrible and magnificent in equal measure. To me it is staggeringly watchable. The premise is seriously skewered yet endearing all the same: 1950s English truckdrivers behaving like 1850s American outlaws in a Never Never Land where trucks are allowed to habitually run at 80mph down country lanes without so much a peep from the plod....the film belongs to Baker - brooding, smouldering, moral, vengeful, utterly magnificent."

  5. Also, I used to think Tyrone Power and John Payne were the same person - straightened that confusion out a few months ago......
