A European heist film from 1966 (but released in '68 here in the States) w/ a killer 'pop' score. The crazy singing voices sort of remind me of what Burt Bacharach would do a few years later w/ Butch and Sundance...but all's fair in love and soundtrack composing I guess since Rosanna's Theme sounds a bit like a little something from a 1939 movie about the Civil War. (at least to my ears)
btw I really dig that 60's chick wearing the bodystocking not to mention those awesome, cool, groovy glasses that dude in the bottom left happens to be sporting. Far out baby! Now let's steal some gold!!!
A dollar!? Why that's how much I paid for it!!! As far as being a heist score...Is that crazy or what? I guess they were going after the same bizarre 'vocal' contra vibe that Bacharach used in his 'western' score...
According to one review I read the 'seven golden men' use a nuclear powered mini sub to steal the gold from a vault they flood! For the daring out there; you can buy this film for streaming via Amazon...(p.s. it even spawned a sequel!)

I had a rather crummy old rip of this, so I'm grateful for the cleaner one, especially with the art. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI remember being very puzzled and ultimately disappointed by this album. It cost my Grandma Peg nearly a dollar!
ReplyDeleteHow times have changed. The "Trove-ster", my nick-of-affection, is near the top of my list of favorite Italian film composers.
Oh, this album still puzzles the heck out of me.
It's a HEIST score?? ;)
