  1. CASSETTE rip @320 w/ART!

Back in the day I used to buy a LOT of cassettes. (the studio I worked at only had a cassette player and there were a few record stores near bye that had a HUGE selection of cool sounds in the tape cut-out bins!)

Just to let you know I've decided to convert some of them into mp3s. The audio transfer program I use does a pretty decent job HOWEVER I know a lot of audiophiles out there probably won't dig them as much. If that's the case then please don't even bother downloading them.

As far as the artwork goes I 'adapted' the weird cassette layouts to fit more comfortably into my itunes viewer but have kept all the information intact. I'll also be putting a 'border' of some sort around the art so they'll be easier to distinguish from lp rips.

Once again...I've been ripping all of this music because it's stuff I want to hear and then I share it because I feel it's sounds that a few of you out there might also dig...I purposely try and concentrate on older, hard to get (and sometimes stranger) music as opposed to current things because...that's just the way I roll here at 'The Pad'. If you don't like it I'm sure there are plenty of other blogs out there where you'll be happier.

    Your friend,

  2. As someone who considers himself an audiophile from WAYYYY back, I have to say many of us appreciate what folks like you share regardless of the original source/format. I grew up listening to mono for probably 8 years before my folks had a real stereo rig at home, and as a trained musician I'll tell you it's not the sound quality that determines what I look for when I choose to buy or download music, it's the music and/or the artist first. I have amazing memories of being moved or delighted or even made to laugh by performances on old scratchy 78 rpm recordings. Thanks, Rocket!!!

  3. Now there's two of us who rip cassettes! I have found some really great tunes on tapes and as long as the tape isn't damaged they sound pretty darn good to me. Thanks!

  5. Thanks so much, Rocket. There is no medium that holds music that is without value (well, maybe 8-tracks were a bit bizarre), but I still love the sound of cassettes and I can transfer them to CD easily and often. Really appreciate your efforts, as always.
