An Open Letter To 'Anonymous':

(since there's no other way for me to communicate w/ you) - the fact that you still come to this blog and STILL insist on leaving your dumb comments only confirms that you're obviously an asshole and suffering from some sort of mental illness. I'm not sure English is your primary language but let me try and put this in a way that anyone can comprehend...even a mental midget such as yourself:

Go fuck yourself!

That said...I really don't feel like sharing w/ strangers anymore. Dozens and dozens of people are downloading and only a handful comment?  and THEN to top it all off I keep getting derogatory 'comments' from some moron who hides behind the veil of anonymity like a freakin' cockroach? What's the point? Now I understand why so many others have either thrown in the towel or gone 'private'.

In the words of the immortal Freddie Mercury: "Another one bites the dust..."

Well done 'Anonymous'.

p.s.  I'll be leaving a post soon where people can  leave an email address if they're still interested in 'Rocket From Mars' shares.

  1. Rocket,

I just read the following on a news blog:

"To this day, Saudi Arabia carries out barbaric executions against both criminals and political enemies, including victims accused of "sorcery and witchcraft" in the aptly named, "Chop-Chop Square" located in the capital of Riyadh where heads are literally chopped off by hooded swordsmen."

How about we all chip in and buy 'anonymous' a one-way ticket to Chop-Chop Square? Just a suggestion......

  2. Rocket ... please don't give up. There are at least some of us who really appreciate your efforts, even if we don't comment on every post. I've been putting up my own music on my site, and hundreds of people were downloading my stuff without leaving comments ... so I just took out the comments section. The thing is, I do it because I like to, and I really don't care what anyone thinks.

  3. Rocket, when the time comes, I want on the bus. Trolls are just another set of aggravating morons which one would prefer not to have around.

  4. Rocket, I can only imagine your pain. Those of us who love what you do are offering you as much moral support as we can.

  5. Rocket I wish you would not go private or close all together, but if you do I will understand.

    Please don't!

  6. The days of having a public music blog are just about gone. I miss them. Please let me know your future plans as you post some awesome music.

  7. I realized long ago that good manners naturally lead me to leave a thank you and heartfelt even if sometimes humorous and pun-filled comments, because I appreciate what folks like you provide, Rocket. I literally haven't time to convert my record collection at present, and look forward to the day I can and can share things myself. Hiding behind 'Anonymous' is a cowardly, unappreciative, thankless snit. Please include me in your list when you get to that point in time, and hang tough. Big thanks for every strain of music I have enjoyed in past months due to your efforts!

  8. Hi Rocket, I'm anonymous usually, but sometimes I leave a name. I visit your site sometimes as with most sites and I may leave a message or not, not because I don't care but because I'm in a rush or just not in the mood, 'd try and not get upset because people don't acknowledge all the great stuff you do and other bloggers. I have kids and the number of times i don't get thanked for various things I've done for them I can't remember, soooooo, maybe you should just think twice or maybe three times about shutting down, go private but I think you will lose a lot of people, I'm not interested in getting an account with anyone because the Net is being surveyed! 9. Rocket, thank-you for all of your great old music, much of the stuff I never knew till there was you. If The Chop-Chop Square Ticket is to much then how about a 100 mile swim in the Pacific or the Atlantic Ocean for the 'Anonymous' Hole. From another Great Anonymous Music Lover who has always appreciated your posts.

  12. As someone who visits this excellent blog - and does download a few things - can I just repeat all the above comments. We will miss you if you go.
These ill-mannered morons who hide behind an "anonymous" soubriquet only deserve to be ignored.

  13. No one likes to be criticized. You’re feeling good about your shares, your ideas, or your behaviour - but, instead of praise, you hear critical, negative comments and that makes hard to deal with...

@ GSW - 3 Reasons why change is good..

1). Changes makes you flexible. Being stubborn and resistant to new things will make a normally stressing situation even more so.

2). Changes makes you smarter. If things never changed, you’d never learn anything new.

3). Changes reminds us that anything is possible.

    1. Hi Jim. You're so right about change. It is, at the same time, the most terrifying and most exciting of human activities. But, to paraphrase the amazing Helen Keller: Life is either a great adventure or nothing at all. Speaking as one who made a complete from-the-ground-up life change at age 55, I can say that it was the best thing in my entire life. All good wishes go to Rocket Man as he attempts to deal with a most unimaginable circumstance.

  14. Ahhhh, Rocket Man. I feel so bad about what has happened to you. I think the worst feeling we can experience is being treated badly in return for doing something good. It's contrary to all we learn of kindness, fairness, and generosity. I do think that, like Jimmy Stewart in "Wonderful Life", there are many more people out here who appreciate you and your kindness that you can imagine. Just know that I'm with you all the way and would love to be included in your future music plans. All my good feelings to you.

  15. Hi Rocket,
I don't blame you for being pissed off at that idiot, who instead of thanking you for sharing these great albums, leaves
    rotten, demeaning comments.

Some of the other music sharing websites, that I have been to, and when I leave a message to thank them for sharing, state that "messages will appear upon approval" or words to that effect.
I think that you should use that method, for comments.

  16. If I get a idiot comment, I just say some swear words, pound my fist on the table, then push the all powerful Delete Message button to make me feel better. If I'm still angry, I put on some Hoyt Curtin Top Cat background music. Nest thing you know, you're dancing.

  17. I take a 'vacation' for several weeks and the whole operation goes to hell! (lol)

Seriously, some people got nothing better to do than get on their mom's computer during the day, polluting top blogs such as The Rocket Pad with their hateful screed, ruining everyone else's good time.

I'm a frequent visitor who has left comments before. I don't offer acknowledgement every time I pass your site or sample your postings, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't notice or feel an immense void if this blog were suddenly unavailable.

Each time I come by, I see items I never realized were released, or that I've long forgotten.

I count this blog as one of several sites for new and unique offerings never before heard or noticed by music lovers such as yours truly.

Please don't shutter your doors on your throngs of faithful fans. If you feel you must heighten your security, please consider a by-invitation only format, keeping everyone happy.

    Thanks for all you do!

It seems there is always someone somewhere that try to make people have a bad day. You have a GREAT blog and a lot of friends here, thanks

  19. Dear Rocket,
Yes, it must feel bad... That's the internet: one is constantly confronted with every aspect, even the lowest, of our species. I personally am very happy with all the beauty you share here. I find yours one of the most impressive music blogs.
