Finding this posting was a nice treat for me and my wife. She plays euphonium in a large wind band and one of the clarinet players is a BIG fan of Mr. Hefti's compositions.
@ Jim & OBHS_DNA - Thanks for letting me know! Comments are always appreciated...PLUS I learned something new! I never knew exactly what a euphonium was -or- that someone who plays one is called a euphophonist!
btw - the last time I asked a woman whether she was a euphophonist she slapped me across the face. (Ba-dum-dum)
This is a great post, Oh Favorite Martian. Hefti is great, Steve Allen cool, and the cover photo is classic Steve Allen...Allen plays Hefti. Throw in the fact I've never seen OR heard this one...big thanks!
Thought I left a comment here, but must have hung up.. Don't you just love the play on words and how it matches the picture. You know Steve Allen came up with that.
Hi Rocket. Thanks for this and many other wonderful posts. You have much unique material (although, sadly, I could not make "Music to Read Bond, Part 2" work to save my Mac). Really appreciate your kindness. Best,
Thanks, Rocket, for Hefti, Hefti and more Hefti, and so much else! Your uploads have become serious dinner music for my wife and me, including many of your movie scores like Captain from Castile, Pride and the Passion, previously-unheard-by-us Korngold, etc. A valuable service you provide, sir-or-madam!!
Thanks John! I really appreciate the kind words. Sometimes I wonder why the heck I do this blogging thing and then? Then I get a nice message like this...bon appetite to you and your wife!
btw - The last time I checked Rocket was (is?) a guy.

Hi-Ho Steve-a-rino! This lp is a lot of fun! A few tracks have issues so I've also included a filtered version in the folder.
Many thanks for this one. Neal Hefti's music were always pleasant and catchy. Hefti conducting and Steve Allen playing piano, sounds promising...

ReplyDeleteThank you for this album. Brings together two great musicians and produces classic big band.

Very cool. Most of the Steve Allen I run across is not playable.
