Back in the early 80's I saw a revival of this movie at a theater in Manhattan. As I was leaving I held the door open for a woman who was also exiting. She was energetically talking to her friend about how much she loved the music and even made a theremin sound. It was Laurie Anderson...true story.
Great story, Rocket! BTW if you've ever been perplexed by the credit "Electronic Tonalities By" for the Barrons its because the Hollywood branch of the composers' guild objected to the term "Music." No joke.
This is still a terrific movie to see with an audience. In fact maybe it's more fun now than ever.
Thanks Philip! I really feel that I learn a heckuva lot from your comments. They're always appreciated...
My favorite scenes in the movie are the animated ones w/ the 'Id' monster...The animators at The Walt Disney Studio who supplied it were the best...there's so much character and detail in it (even though it's 'invisible'). It's really quite amazing! (even today in this digital/CGI era)
Hey Rocket Take a look over at: http://thecheerfulearfull.blogspot.ca/ where he's got "The Day the Earth Stood Still"! Gawd! Two greats in one morning. Regards Bob

And the line about Robbie - "A housewife's dream" - always gets a great laugh.
